Big News!!

Madeline got her ears pierced today! She has really wanted to get it done for the past year. Originally, I was planning to make her wait until she was 12 (like I was), but then decided that it just didn't matter. We told her that she could get her ears pierced when school was over, but then postponed it until after swimming lessons were over. Swimming lessons ended yesterday... so, today was the big day! Madeline was sooooooo excited. We went to Claire's at the mall with the Martins (my friend Jen and her kids: Jacob, Jenna, Nicholas and Marissa.) Madeline did great. She selected pretty pink flower earrings.

Here are her before, during and after pictures:

Anyone want to take a guess at what happened next?? Well, approximately 1 second after Madeline got her ears pierced, Mallory decided that she wanted to get her ears pierced too! (She had been talking about it, but I think she was concerned that it was going to hurt too much. After watching Madeline get it done, however, she must have decided that it didn't look so bad.) She selected blue flower earrings.

Then Jenna (pictured in the spectator photo) decided that she wanted to get her ears pierced as well! Unfortunately, Jenna's dad wasn't there and pierced ears are just not something you surprise a dad with, so she didn't get it done...until a few hours later! I guess she asked her dad's permission before he even set foot in the house after getting home from work! Madeline, Mallory and I went with Jen and Jenna this evening to get Jenna's ears pierced. She got rainbow flower earrings.

Here are all three of the girls with their newly pierced earlobes!

Here are a couple more pictures of Madeline and Mallory. They are very happy with their pierced ears. For the record, both girls agreed that getting their ears pierced hurt less than they thought it would.
