Mallory turned 6 on November 25th - Thanksgiving Day this year.
She did a lot of celebrating. The birthday celebration began with her birthday party which was held the Saturday before her birthday. She invited 10 girls.
Mallory had a Scooby Doo-themed party. Since Brianna had been Scooby Doo for Halloween, she decided to reprise the role for the birthday party. She sat by the door (like a dog) to greet the guests as they came! In the group picture, she even had the girls rubbing her belly!
We played "Pin the Food on Scooby", "Velma, Velma, Scooby" (Duck, Duck, Goose), "Pass the Scooby Snacks" (Hot Potato), "Scooby Says" (Simon Says) and then freeze danced to several versions of the Scooby Doo theme song.
For a craft, the girls made treasure boxes (paper mache boxes that they decorated with sequins and gems.) They turned out really cute. When the girls were busy watching Mallory open her gifts, I put a plastic gemstone ring in each box, so that there would be a "treasure" in their treasure box. = )
Mallory celebrated her birthday at school on the 23rd, since that was the last day before Thanksgiving break. She was really excited. She got a special glitter pencil from the school principal and her birthday was announced over the intercom during the morning announcements. And then, I got to eat lunch with her in the school cafeteria. She came home with a fancy crown that her kindergarten teacher made for her and a poster that all her classmates helped make.
After school, the Martins brought over this gigantic rice krispie treat in the shape of a 6. Mallory loved it. (Actually, we all loved it. It was quite tasty.)Mallory had her birthday dinner at Red Robin (of course!) She enjoyed her serenade immensely and her chocolate sundae even more.
And yes, she proudly wore her hat the entire time.
