Scott and Madeline went to the Iowa Hawkeye football game last Saturday. It should have been a really fun daddy-daughter event, unfortunately it was quite cold and rainy - really rainy.
Madeline was a very good sport. According to Scott, she never complained. When he asked her if she was ready to go home during the 3rd quarter, she simply said, "yes." Scott got her a big cup of hot chocolate and they walked back to my parents' house. They were absolutely soaked and frozen by the time they got back. Madeline had to take a shower to warm up.
Mallory knew that Scott only had two tickets to the football game. He had talked about getting three, but we decided that Mallory probably wouldn't enjoy sitting through an entire football game. Anyway, up until the day of the game, Mallory was completely fine. On Saturday, however, as Scott and Madeline were getting ready to go, Mallory burst into tears. She said she wanted to go to the game too. I asked her if she'd feel better if I bought her a package of Tic-Tacs. The tears disappeared instantly. We got the Tic-Tacs and she never mentioned the game again. Tic-Tacs are a mighty cure-all in our household right now... (and, I might add, much cheaper than a football ticket!)
