Parent Day

To mark the end of their ocean unit, Mallory's preschool class invited all the parents to come for a special "Parent Day" celebration.

Since Mallory's friend was planning to do a special dance on Parent Day, Mallory decided that she wanted to do something special too...

On Parent Day, Mallory's friend did her dance. It was very cute. All the rest of the children sat on the floor behind her waving flowers.

Then it was Mallory's turn. Mallory's teacher, Ms. C, asked her to tell the parents what she was going to do. She said that she was going to sing "La Arana Pequenita" (Itsy Bitsy Spider in Spanish.) Ms. C asked her to tell everyone the name of the song in English. Mallory replied that she didn't want to sing in English. She was going to sing in Spanish. = )

Here's Mallory's version of La Arana Pequenita. You can't hear what she's singing in the video, but she looks cute.

The children also sang several songs including "Slippery Fish," "Let's Go Swimming," and "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, What a Special Friend You Are."

Here's "Let's Go Swimming":

When they were done singing, they got to break open the Rainbow Fish pinata that they had made. However, instead of breaking it with a stick (which the kids said would have been dangerous), they pulled on ribbons attached to the bottom of the pinata. Mallory was very excited to find that the pinata was full of candy.

Isn't she a cute little spider?
