We kicked off Easter weekend with an egg hunt on Saturday morning. Our subdivision hosts the hunt every year. The kids form a big circle and when the word is given, they run around and collect as many eggs as they can. The kids came away with baskets full of candies and little trinkets.

Madeline and Mallory agreed to have their picture taken with the Easter bunny.
Brianna adamantly refused. "No bunny!"
Brianna adamantly refused. "No bunny!"
On Easter morning, the girls awoke to find Easter eggs in their beds and hidden in the rooms. They promptly woke us up so that we could go downstairs to find out if there were more.
The opened up all the goodies in their Easter baskets and then proceeded to spend a great deal of time looking for the rest of the hidden eggs. (The Easter bunny hid the eggs in tricky spots this year.) Brianna's eggs were in the open, but she had just as hard a time finding them. When she did fine one, she'd immediately open it and eat the candy. If she had a hard time opening it, she'd just put it on the ground and stomp on it! Eventually she'd eaten all of the candy from her eggs. Then, she started stealing eggs out of Madeline and Mallory's baskets when they weren't looking! (Madeline and Mallory were not happy about that.) By the end she was bringing us empty eggs with the hope that there was something inside saying, "Mo candy!" We had a few leftover pancakes from breakfast, so Scott started putting little pieces of pancake inside the eggs. He'd make a big deal out of it saying, "Look! The Easter bunny gave you a piece of pancake!" Brianna was absolutely disgusted.

On Sunday, we dyed our Easter eggs. Brianna was very intrigued by the whole process.
Curious about the color of the eggs? Well, all we had left was blue, green and yellow dye. We used pink, purple and orange last year. Yes, for anyone wondering, I will splurge on a new kit next year. And honestly, the kids didn't mind!
We had a very nice Easter dinner at our house. Before eating, we went around the table and said something/someone we were thankful for. Mallory was thankful for Mommy, Daddy, Madeline and Brianna. Madeline was thankful for all of those people and Jesus. (She'll be the star pupil in religious education next year!) We asked Brianna what she was thankful for and without a moment's hesitation she said, "Elmo." (Not sure she's going to be a star pupil...)
We hope you all had a very nice Easter!
